Based upon need, the SD Lions Foundation directly helps individuals receive hearing exams and reconditioned hearing aids. Feature Story Frustrated with the effects of hearing loss, Dorothy B. didn't know where to turn. Her hearing impairment was affecting her relationships and causing her to withdraw from social situations. Help was just a phone call away. Shirley W., a Sioux Falls Downtown Lions club member, contacted the Foundation for a Specific Assistance Grant. The South Dakota Lions Foundation contributed $481 and the Sioux Falls Downtown Club contributed $237 to provide Dorothy with two brand new hearing aids. A local hearing dispenser provided the test, fitting and follow-up care.
